2XKO Fuses Explained: A Complete Guide to Choosing Your Power-Up

Welcome to the ever-evolving arena of 2XKO, the tag-team fighting game from Riot Games. As you assemble your duo from a roster of iconic champions, you’ll face a critical decision before every match: selecting a Fuse. This choice is just as important as your character selection, as it fundamentally alters your team’s strategy and capabilities.

Fuses are unique gameplay modifiers chosen during champion select that provide powerful, team-wide benefits. Once selected, a Fuse cannot be changed in the middle of a match, making it a crucial strategic commitment. Whether you want to extend combos, buff a single champion, or combine super attacks, there’s a Fuse to fit your style. This guide will break down every available Fuse to help you make the winning choice.

Current 2XKO Fuses

As of the game’s current early access build, there are five distinct Fuses to choose from.

1. 2X Assist

The 2X Assist Fuse is a fantastic and safe option, especially for beginners. It allows you to use two assist actions per call, opening the door for bigger combos or giving you a much-needed moment to breathe. You can even use one assist, have your partner remain on screen, and then call a second assist. A key tactical advantage is the ability to call an assist after a push block, which can be invaluable for escaping corner pressure. The effectiveness of this Fuse is directly tied to the strength of your chosen characters’ assists.

2. Double Down

Often recommended for newcomers, Double Down is one of the most straightforward yet impactful Fuses. This Fuse enables your assist character to perform a super attack simultaneously with your point character, leading to a massive damage boost at the end of combos. To make the most of Double Down, it’s wise to enter training mode and see which of your team’s supers synergize well together.

3. Freestyle

Freestyle is considered a more advanced Fuse that offers incredible creative freedom. It allows you to perform two “Handshake Tags” in a single assist call. Normally, an assist character leaves the screen after tagging in, but Freestyle lets them stay briefly, allowing you to tag back. This creates unique mix-up opportunities and complex combo extensions. Using this effect does trigger a short cooldown on your next assist action.

4. Juggernaut

Perfect for players who prefer a solo experience or want to focus on mastering one character at a time. The Juggernaut Fuse locks you into controlling a single champion, disabling tags and assists. In return, that champion receives significant buffs, including more health and increased super meter capacity. It’s an excellent choice if you’re confident in your abilities with one specific character.

5. Sidekick

The Sidekick Fuse offers a middle ground between a full duo and the solo Juggernaut style. While you can only control your point character, your assist is still available to be called in for support. The assist character cannot be knocked out and has access to special tools to empower the main fighter. This Fuse is highly recommended for newcomers as it allows you to learn the game’s core mechanics with a single champion while still having access to assist mechanics.
